Dr Erick Ramanaidou

Chief Research Scientist, Iron Ore & Critical Minerals

CSIRO

Dr. Erick Ramanaidou is Chief Research Scientist in the Discovery Program at CSIRO Mineral Resources, located at the Australian Resource Research Centre (ARRC) in Perth, Western Australia. He is highly regarded for his expertise in the exploration and characterisation of critical metals, particularly nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co). Dr. Ramanaidou has made significant contributions to the development of automated mineral analysis technologies for large-scale resource evaluation.

He currently leads the three-year New Policy Proposal India–Australia Critical Metals project, which focuses on identifying and characterising critical minerals in India. In collaboration with IITB-Mumbai and Jadavpur University, the project investigates rare earth elements (REE) in carbonatites in Rajasthan and Meghalaya, lithium (Li) in pegmatites in Rajasthan, and chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and platinum group elements (PGE) in Odisha.

Beyond mineral exploration, Dr. Ramanaidou is actively involved in geochronology, utilising U-Th-He and U-Pb dating methods to enhance mineral characterisation and resource development. His leadership and innovations continue to advance critical metals research both in Australia and internationally.
