Debabrata Das

Assistant Professor, Centre of Advance Study in Geology

Panjab University

Asst Prof Debabrata Das' research interest lies in the exploration of critical minerals, essential for modem technological advancements, from both primary and secondary sources. With the growing demand for these minerals in sectors such as renewable energy, electronics, and defense, there is an urgent need to identify and develop sustainable extraction methods.

In the realm of primary sources, he is focused on assessing and characterizing mineral deposits using advanced geological and geochemical techniques. His goal is to discover new deposits and enhance extraction processes to ensure a stable supply of these vital resources.

Simultaneously, he is deeply interested in the potential of secondary sources, including coal mining area and it's by product, as alternative supply routes for critical minerals. His work involves developing efficient and environmentally friendly methods for recovering these minerals.

By integrating geology, chemistry, and materials science, he aims to contribute to a sustainable and secure supply chain for critical minerals. His ongoing research projects, coupled with his future goals, reflect his commitment to advancing this crucial field and addressing both economic and environmental challenges.
